What is an ABC ID Card?

The Full form of the ABC ID card is Academic Bank of Credits. This card has a 12-digit identification number issued by the government under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 for the Indian education system.

Through this ID, the students can save, manage, and store their academic credits, including their degrees, exam results, report cards, diplomas, certificates, educational records, and co-curricular achievements in a single place.

Method 1: Delete & Recreate

  • Log in to your DigiLocker account
  • In the home screen, find the "Issued" option button
  • Click on this option to see all your issued documents including ABC ID card
  • Next to the ABC ID card option, there will be three dots
  • Click on them and you will see the "Delete" option
  • Click on it to delete the issued ABC ID card
  • After that, refresh the page. If it's still not removed, refresh 2-3 times
  • Now come to the home page and create the ID card by giving the correct institution information
  • Download the card from issued documents again

Method 2: Direct Update

  • Login to your DigiLocker account by entering the right credentials
  • In the home screen, find "Academic Bank of Credits" in the "New in DigiLocker" section
  • Here will be a "Join Now" option, click on it
  • You will see all personal details of the ABC ID card including DOB, gender, year of admission, identity type, identity value, institution name and type
  • Click on the institution name field
  • Select/update the correct university or college from the list
  • Then click on the "Get Document" option
  • You will get a notification that "Your request has been submitted"
  • Wait for the confirmation from the issuer
  • This is the way you can change the university or college on ABC ID card

🔍 ABC ID Institution Name Not Showing

This is the most common issue students face while updating/correcting the institution name. When students search for their desired university or college, they don't find it in the list.

✓ Solution 1: The university or college name might be given in abbreviation form. Search for the short name that your university also holds.

✓ Solution 2: If you're searching the institution by short name, try writing the complete name of the institute in the search bar. You will definitely get it.

Sometimes after submitting the update request, it takes longer than expected or shows pending status.

✓ Solution: Wait for 24-48 hours for the system to process your request. The issuer needs to verify and approve the changes. Check back after 2-3 days.
